If I told you I had a steal beam 4" by 2" laid down in a parking lot and that I would pay you $50 to walk across it, would you do it?
I'm guessing you would unless you had some unnatural aversion to parking lots, steam beams or men making very strange promises. How about if I lifted up to say, 20 feet, now would you do it? Probably not for $50, but what about $5,000? Surely that would be worth the risk, and anyway it's no more difficult walking across at 20 feet than it is at ground level. So what's the problem, you can either do it or you can't, right? Well not really no, because all of a sudden doubt creeps in when you introduce risk into the equation. Now instead of thinking "That's no problem give me the greenback" you are probably thinking, "I could break my leg I'm not risking that for 50 bucks"
It's exactly the same thing.....but different.
This kind of thinking is what can trap you in your comfort zone and it isn't easy to break out of, but break out of it you must if you want to fulfill your true potential. Many people KNOW they can do things such as run their own business because they have been doing it for somebody else for 20 years, but when it comes to making the leap and running a business of their own it's a different story. It shouldn't be.
Millions of people start their own businesses and 99% of companies started up as a small ventures. Take Michael Dell as an example, he started as a one-man band, Microsoft started with just Bill Gates and Paul Allen and there are hundreds of other examples like those that I am too lazy to research.
Of course, do due diligence when leaving the job that doesn't fulfill to working for yourself but also take a leap of faith. What I mean by faith, is the faith and belief in yourself and what you are capable of achieving based on your achievements, skills and desire to succeed.
