Need Motivation? Olympian Reveals the Number One Key That Will Ignite Your Motivation Forever

Every four years, millions of people around the world are enthralled by the athletes of the Olympic Games.

But as a spectator what you may not know is that Olympic athletes discover keys to success THAT CAN HELP YOU! True, you may not be able to relate to their god-like physical attributes, but if you're like me, you can relate to their desire to achieve, to reach a goal.

So whether you are a fan of the Olympics, and especially if you're not, you will want to take advantage of the number one key learned by all Olympic athletes. This key will build your motivation, ensure greater success and boost your self-esteem.

Powerful key revealed: THERE ARE THREE OUTCOMES TO EVERY RACE!

We all can agree on the first outcome, and that is TO WIN! Winning means that you achieved better results than anyone else on that day. That's good. The downside of winning is that only one person can win. So where does it leave everyone else?

Most people would say that if you don't win, then you lose. Losing is much rarer in the Olympics than you can imagine. But let's talk about another outcome.

You can BE BEATEN. This is not the same as losing. Being beaten means that you did your very best, but someone else did better than you. Of course everyone wants to be number one, but there is honor in being beaten. How can you possibly do better than your very best?

Think about it. If your very best isn't good enough, then only the impossible will do. What are your chances of achieving the impossible in your life? If there is only win and lose, you are setting yourself up for failure. How much motivation can you muster to continually try and fail? So the key is to include "being beaten" as an honorable outcome.

The final outcome is TO LOSE. In the Olympic world "to lose" means giving up or quitting. It means taking yourself out of the race, or not even trying. How motivating is that? Many people have this all-or-nothing attitude. If they can't win, then they don't try. Over time this attitude is the biggest killer of motivation. How do you operate your life?

To succeed we need a different attitude; we need to believe that doing our best is honorable.

A great story emerged from the 1968 Olympics. John Akhwari of Tanzania, brutally injured his leg during the marathon. The winner had already been declared an hour earlier when John hobbled into the stadium. As he crossed the finish line, the few remaining spectators roared its appreciation. A reporter asked him why he had not retired from the race, since he had no chance of winning. He seemed confused by the question. Finally, he answered: "My country did not send me to start the race. They sent me to finish." Was John a loser? No. HE WAS WELCOMED HOME A HERO.

Another great story you will never forget is about Nick If this story doesn't strengthen your motivation, nothing will!

It's true. The Olympics just come around every four years. And your life, your fitness, (or lack of it) is very, very real. However, if you are like me you appreciate guidance from whatever direction it comes. And this key learned from the Olympic athletes can (and will) insure you emerge from your particular challenges with stronger motivation, greater success, and increased self-esteem. So go ahead! Set high goals for yourself; just remember to celebrate EVERY time you do your best!

Creating super habits are easier than you could ever imagine. Most people have something they would like to change in their lives. If you ask anyone, they are usually able to answer this question, "If you could change anything about yourself, what would you change." All the self help and personal development programs and Books available today are full of useful information that nobody seems to take advantage of. You've seen the TV commercials and listen to other people tell their stories, about how they lost weight.

Let God Handle It

Why Do People Become Serial Killers?

There are differences between mass murderers and serial killers:

Mass murderers kill a number of people at one time and in one place. Mass murderers usually attack schools; universities and restaurants believing it to be a place for a maximum kill effect. They often die at the scene of the multiple slayings, either through suicide or police action. Only occasionally do they turn themselves into the police after the killings.

Serial killers on the other hand, murder one at a time and go to great lengths to avoid detection and apprehension.

The US is believed to have the highest number of serial killers.

Why do people become serial killers or mass murderers?

Any problem can have causes either in one or more of the 3 dimensions, namely the physical, the psychological and the spiritual. Spiritual research has shown that the main root cause for a person to commit serial killing and mass murder lies in the spiritual realm. The breakdown of the reasons why a person commits serial killing and mass murder is like this -

Psychological - 10%
Physical - 0%
Spiritual - 90%

The psychological factors have been well documented in various publications available on the Internet.

With regards to the spiritual factors it is primarily demonic possession by medium level ghosts from the 2nd region of hell. In some cases these people have been possessed for many births by the same higher level ghosts.

It is for this reason that it is very difficult to predict when a mass murderer may go on a killing spree as the ghost possessing him can do it at any time without any warning signs.

Does this mean that serial killers and mass murderers are exonerated for their crimes at a karmic level?

As per the Law of karma we have to experience happiness or suffer the consequences of our actions and thoughts. For extreme acts like killing someone one has to suffer severely at a spiritual level in this lifetime or the next. But what if an entity or a ghost acted through a person? And by possessing the person, the ghost made the person commit heinous crimes like serial killing and mass murder. Is the possessed person still responsible as per the Law of Karma?

The answer is yes. The reason for this is that a ghost gains entry into our consciousness and possesses us due to our own vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities include a high amount of demerits accrued from previous births, incorrect deeds, personality defects such as fear and anger that lead to anxiety and stress, lack of spiritual practice, etc. Even mass murderers or serial killers who are psychologically impaired incur demerits for their crime. The reason is that, basically they are psychologically deranged due to some major incorrect action of theirs either in this or some past birth. That is why they are still accountable for their crimes even though they may not be fully aware of their actions when committing the crime.

However the extent of demerits incurred is less than if they were to do the act without being possessed or psychologically deranged as compared to an average person in his senses and in full consciousness committing the same crimes.

Demerits earned due to mass murders or serial killing

60% - A psychologically impaired person going on a killing spree
60 % - A person under the complete control of ghost going on a killing spree
100% - An average person going on a killing spree

Mass murderers like Hitler would be earning demerits exponentially more than 100 on the above relative scale.

In summary

Spiritual root causes of problems can only be completely rectified through spiritual means. Regular spiritual practice as per the 6 basic principles of spiritual practice is the only sure way of preventing a ghost possessing us. Spiritual practice is also the only sure way of being protected from the onslaught of mass murderers and serial killers.

Ghosts Subjected To Research

The term ghost' generically refers to various types of subtle (invisible) bodies such as demons, devils, witches, etc. who have the intention of harming others. The Spiritual Science Research Foundation has undertaken extensive research on ghosts in order to demystify this widespread phenomenon and help people in recognising and treating the adverse effects caused by ghosts through proven methodology according to the Spiritual science.

Ghosts (demons, devils, spirits) though neither visible to the gross eye, nor perceived by the other sense organs, mind and intellect are factors that affect all mankind. The manifestations of distress due to ghosts can be from a person displaying uncharacteristic behaviour to erratic display of violence, addictions, various physical and psychological illnesses, family problems, business problems, etc.

1. Ghost characteristics

  • Ghosts (demons, devils, spirits) are subtle (invisible) bodies
  • Ghosts belong to the nether region or one of the seven regions of hell but are found on Earth region too
  • Ghosts (demons, devils, spirits) do not exist in the positive planes of the universe i.e. heaven
  • Ghosts (demons, devils, spirits) have unfulfilled desires such as cravings for sex, alcohol (things that they can only experience through a physical body), revenge, etc
  • Ghosts (demons, devils, spirits) derive pleasure out of exerting control over and tormenting humans
  • The general aim of ghosts is spreading unrighteousness and consequent turbulent havoc in society

2. Who can become a ghost?

People who have died with unfulfilled desires, personality defects, negative impressions in the mind, high ego, who have harmed others and/or have the basic nature of harming others. Most importantly people who have not done spiritual practice according to the basic principles of Spirituality while alive are likely to become ghosts in their afterlife.

3. What is the meaning of being affected by ghosts?

Being affected by ghosts (demons, devils, spirits, etc.) is when the physical, mental, intellectual or spiritual functioning of a person or any combination thereof is affected or altered by the ghosts entirely through the use of ghosts black energy without direct intervention by the ghosts. Consequently, there is no direct controlling of the mind and intellect of the affected person.

However the ghost affects that aspect of the person, which is most conducive to achieving its objective; either of troubling that person, fulfilling its own desire, or preventing spiritual practice, etc.

4. What is demonic possession?

Demonic possession is when ghosts (demons, devils, spirits, etc.) control the mind (emotions, thoughts) and intellect (decision making ability) of a person. As a result, they also control the persons actions.
In a possession, ghost (demon, devil, spirit) is actively involved in controlling the mind and intellect as a means to harm the person. In almost all cases, the person possessed does not know that he/she is possessed, until it manifests in a dramatic way as shown in the Hollywood movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

5. Spiritual strength wins
In the subtle realms of our existence, spiritual strength is the most important currency. Out of the person targeted for attack and the attacking ghost, whoever is spiritually stronger wins. If the ghost has more spiritual strength than the person to be attacked, then the ghost can affect or possess the person at will. If a person has a higher spiritual level, his defense against a ghost attack is stronger as a result of his own spiritual strength accrued with spiritual practice, and consequently the protection that he/she receives from God is also higher.

6. Solution

Initiate one's spiritual practice and maintain its regularity so as to build protection from ghost attacks.

Going To Heaven Or Not

Why Attaining Happiness is So Elusive - Part 1

The Happiness Hypothesis

As a Third Ager, I have always believed that we all can be happy after midlife with the right mind set and knowledge. However, after reading The Happiness Hypothesis: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom by Jonathan Haidt, being happy and having a meaningful life for everyone is a little more complicated that I thought.

Dr. Fred Horowitz, my colleague at happiness-after-midlife.com, recommended I read the book; it was one of his best reads of 2008 even though it is relatively unknown (there were only two reviews on Amazon the last time I looked). It turned out to be a fascinating read for me as well, eye-opening theories and insight based on solid scientific studies. But there is also helpful practical advice for being happy which is the pay-off for me.

I was so impressed with the Haidt's book that I would like to share with you in a series of five articles what I discovered. What is particularly fascinating is his melding of Ancient and Eastern wisdom and modern Western science. It had an impact on my life and may affect you in positive ways too.

I will touch on such ideas as the divided self, affective style, cognitive therapy, the happiness set point, the adversity hypothesis, spirituality, the importance of love and social relationships and the meaning of life - just to name a few. Haidt does not suggest a quick fix solution to finding happiness (what Dr. Fred calls the "Chinese Food Syndrome": you feel full for an hour, then you are hungry again). You have to work at it.

Our Mind is often in Conflict with Itself

At the beginning of the book, Haidt, a respected positive psychologist, describes two key notions: the divided self and changing your mind. The first concept provides a backdrop for understanding his arguments throughout the book. Hadit uses the metaphor of a rider on an elephant. In his view the mind is divided into parts that conflict. On the one hand, there is the elephant which is the gut brain or emotions and passions (the id in Freud's sense). On the other hand, there is the rider or the head brain, the rational side (the ego).

In fact, he describes at length ancient thinking and the latest scientific research pointing to four distinctions: mind vs. body, left brain vs. right brain, reason vs. emotion, and controlled vs. automatic thinking. What does all this mean? Conscious thought or rational behaviour has far less influence on our lives and ways of acting than we think. These distinctions partly explain our weakness of will and our experience of being divided against our self. This is point one in making the pursuit of happiness so elusive.

"The whole universe is change and life itself is what you deem it." Marcus Aurelius

The sage of self-help thinking, Dale Carnegie writing in 1944 said that the last eight words of the above quotation "can transform your life." Haidt is more cautious about such an assertion. He does say that self improvement self development is possible. How? He suggests three specific, albeit challenging and controversial, ways of changing your mind, but more about that later. First let us explore briefly three more fascinating theories about how the mind works in unconscious ways and affects the way we think and act:

- Like-O-Meter
This is an unconscious, subtle like-dislike reaction to everything we are experiencing even if we are not aware of the experience. The psychological studies on "affective priming" Haidt describes are worth reading. Other studies he cites show that three of the major decisions in life - what we do with our lives, where we live, and whom we marry - can all be affected (even only slightly) by something as seemingly insignificant as the sound of a name.

- Negativity Bias
The elephant or the unconscious sees bad as stronger than good. For example, Haidt refers to the finding that in marital interactions, it takes at least five good or constructive actions to make up for the damage done by one critical act. Another example is fear of snakes. If the elephant fears them it doesn't matter what you "think." You will still be afraid.

- Affective Style
Affective style equals a person's average or typical level of happiness - the so-called happiness set point. It is influenced by nature much more than we think. Surprisingly, research shows that happiness is one of the most highly heritable aspects of personality. According to several identical twin studies, 50 percent to 80 percent of all variance among people in their average levels of happiness can be explained by differences in their genes rather than in their life experiences. Now I know why I have never had a depression and recover quickly from negative experiences. According to Haidt I seemed to have won the "cortical lottery."

What you can do

How can you influence or change your affective style if you were not as lucky as me in the cortical lottery? Haidt suggests three courses of action:

- Do Meditation

Meditation plays a large role in Buddhist thinking and according to Haidt it tames and calms the elephant. Done everyday for several months, meditation can help you reduce the frequency of fearful, negative, and debilitating thoughts. Dr. Fred has practised meditation for over 20 years and more recently "mindfulness." Both practices have had a significant impact on his life. Dr. Fred would probably agree with Haidt's assertion that meditation can improve your affective style.

- Learn to do Cognitive Therapy

People with a tendency to depression often tell themselves that "I'm no good," "My world is bleak," "My future is hopeless." A depressed person's mind is filled with these automatic thoughts - the inner voice that keeps replaying negative tapes. The psychiatrist Beck described the a feedback loop: distorted thinking causing negative feelings. He and others such as Dr. David M. Burns in Feeling Good suggest you can break the cycle by breaking the thoughts. If you can catch your thoughts, write them down, name the distortions, and then find alternative and more accurate ways of thinking, you the rider can learn to train the elephant. However, according to Haidt it may not be effective for everyone.

- Take Prozac

Haidt admits that this drug and other SSRIs are controversial as a quick fix (grim reminder of the happiness pill "soma" in Brave New World). Scientists still don't know how it works but it does. It can relieve symptoms and sometimes can even change personality. Haidt argues that it is not over-prescribed; he uses effectively the analogy of giving someone contact lenses to see well. For Haidt it is a reasonable shortcut to proper functioning. Other experts such as Dr. Ben Lemer writing on mercola.com and Mark Kingwell, author of Better Living: In pursuit of happiness from Plato to Prozac, would strongly disagree. It is up for you to weigh the evidence, experiment and decide whether it is right for you.

In Part 2 of the series, I'll explore the importance of reciprocity in connecting with others and the dangers of hypocrisy and self-righteousness in preventing us from being happy.

What is a Yoga Lifestyle?

Attending a bunch of yoga classes every week? Wearing tight yoga pants and, every time you get a chance, flinging silk scarves made in India around your shoulders? If I say "Namaste" when I greet someone, or "Om Shanti" when I leave, does that make me a yogi?

While all of the above choices are perfectly in line with the newly-born and rapidly expanding yoga culture, yoga lifestyle means something entirely different. It has nothing to do with the style of yoga people practice, their style of clothing, the type of work they are involved in, or anything else that is externally imposed by fads and culture.

Yoga lifestyle is about one's internal values: What moves or motivates a person to do what they do? Yoga lifestyle is also about the process: How one goes about performing their daily actions. That person can be an artist, a carpenter, a construction worker, a plumber, a car mechanic, a yoga teacher, or a cop. These external descriptions are like the seasons in New England - they are in constant change. They describe a temporary occurrence. Our essence remains the same. Our core values determine who we are and if we are living a yoga lifestyle.

Several years ago, I witnessed the following scene in New York City.

A hot and humid summer afternoon was drawing to a close. The busy sidewalk glistened in the slanted sunrays weaving their way through the tall buildings. A young woman with a baby carriage stopped at a street vendor to buy a bottle of water. For a moment, she let go of the carriage handle as she reached for her wallet to pay. In that moment, the baby carriage started to roll down the sidewalk and toward the speeding traffic.

All of a sudden, a teenage boy darted away from his 'gang' across the street and sprinted toward the rolling carriage while dodging cars. His sharp and urgent voice "Watch the baby! Watch the baby!" jerked the young mother's head around. She grasped the invisible air handle realizing what happened, and ran toward the carriage, which was already falling over the edge of the sidewalk and into the hands of the teenage boy.

The mother broke into tears and hugged the boy. The boy smiled and shook his head. His friends across the street started clapping their hands. Several other people joined the standing ovation. The street vendor cheered the passers-by to notice what happened. For a few seconds, the busy street stopped, and celebrated the moment.

In those few seconds, a wave of love and gratitude rolled through the crowd. Everyone smiled. We all felt connected. We all felt compassionate toward one another and united in our human condition here on planet Earth, regardless of our background and beliefs.

What moved the young man to sprint through the traffic risking his own life? What moved the young woman to hug the boy? What moved the gang of young teenagers to applaud this event?

Many yoga masters and spiritual teachers have defined yoga as "perfection in action". A perfect action means "an action that benefits someone and harms no-one". It is an action rooted in non-violence and compassion coming from a deep source within. When we are living our life in accordance with this principle, we are living the yoga lifestyle.

Non-violence, which stems from compassion, is thought of as the most important yoga principle. It's called "Ahimsa" in Sanskrit and applies to everything: our deeds, words, and thoughts. Gandhi dedicated his life to Ahimsa. He was a great yogi and a wonderful example of the yoga lifestyle.

There are four more yoga principles of social conduct: truthfulness, non-stealing, faithfulness, and non-greed; and five rules of personal conduct: mental purity, contentment with what we have, accepting suffering as purification, self-study, and surrendering of ego.

No one said it was easy. However, as you begin to quiet your mind and listen to your heart, the natural sense of compassion and non-violence awakens, and there's no stopping it. All other yoga principles become our choices and the natural extension of the original awakening to the compassionate voice of your inner heart. The yoga lifestyle is the next step in the evolution of the humankind.

Affirmations - How to Make Them Work For You

What do you think about most of the time? Are your thoughts positive, negative, neutral?
When something doesn't go the way you want, what is your first thought? Our thoughts are constantly running around in our minds. Sometimes we forget that we can manage our thoughts. What we focus on expands in our lives. When we learn how to shift our focus from what we don't want to what we do want, miracles happen.

Learning to use affirmations is one way to shift your focus from what you "don't" want to what you "do" want. Affirmations are positive statements of truth and change. An affirmation can reflect how you truly feel about yourself, "I am unique." Affirmations can also help you move to where you want to be, "I relax and allow my inner spirit to guide my life." Your subconscious mind is like a video recorder that never stops running, it picks up sounds, ideas, thoughts, and feelings. Whether you believe them or not, affirmations make an impact on your subconscious mind. These statements help you train and focus on what you "truly" want in your life. When you realize the power that you have to manage your thoughts and emotions you move into a new understanding of how to truly engage with life.

I recommend you think, write and say affirmations to continue to impress your subconscious
mind. You can think them throughout your day and definitely focus on them whenever you find yourself feeling stressed, anxious, depressed or having feelings that are not positive. Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

I am a unique divine expression of love.
I am available to receive more good than I have ever imagined.
I am alive, alert, awake and enthusiastic!
I believe my path is mine alone and I know that I am where I should be at this time, space and place.
I relax and allow my inner spirit to guide my life.
I design all areas of my life with ease and grace.
I am grateful for all the teachers and lessons of my life.

When you find yourself focusing on what you don't want - try one or all of these affirmations to jumpstart your thoughts back to where you truly want to be. Remember you have the power to create the life you want to live.

Barbara J. Faison is the author the book, Why Struggle? life is too short to wear tight shoes and the beginners meditation cd, Be Still: Learn to Meditate in 10 Minutes a Day. Saving Money As A Teenager

Holistic Chiropractic Health

Chiropractic is based on the understanding that our bodies are in a continuous state of healing. Healing takes place in all living people. This healing is directed by the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). This is the focus of the Chiropractor, to make sure the communication is open from the brain to the body and from the body back to the brain. Chiropractic health care has been traced back to China and Greece in 2700 BC and 1500 BC. Even Hippocrates, the Greek physician, whom all medical practitioners swear oath to, who lived from 460 to 357 BC detailed the importance of chiropractic care. It only came to the United States in 1895 when Daniel David Palmer founded the chiropractic profession in Davenport, Iowa. During the ensuing years, chiropractors have been called "quacks," "snake oil doctors," among many other things. But the National Health Institute of Complimentary Alternative Medicine now recognizes chiropractic health care. Chiropractic clinics are springing up everywhere in America. Young, new chiropractors are surfacing daily. One of the leading new schools of Chiropractor is Life University of Murrieta, GA. When I search for a chiropractor these days, I want to see a degree on their wall from Life University. Why? Because these young chiropractors, whether they admit it or not. are schooled in holistic health care. The ones on the cutting edge encourage good nutrition, exercise, diet and spiritual wellness. An example between the difference of a family physician and a chiropractor came to life to me several years ago when I had a bulging disk in my lower back. My family physician sent me to a neurologist who immediately x-rayed it and scheduled surgery. "Not so fast, " I said. I found a new chiropractor in town that had graduated summa cum laude from Life University. He introduced me to the basics of holistic health care. During weeks of spinal adjustments, he was able to relieve the pain. The key word in chiropractic is subluxation. Subluxations cause dis-ease. Chiropractors do not treat diseases. They simply detect and correct subluxations so that healing can take place in the central nervous system. As a metaphysician, these treatments are better than traditional methods. My family physician was only able to subscribe a painkiller, and we all know that these can become addictive. Chiropractor health is drug free! The human body is able to heal itself.

The God-mind within us heals. Our bodies are energy fields in every cell. The energy flow from a chiropractor's hands comes into contact with the energy field of that part of the body that needs healed. There are techniques you can use yourself to help your body self-heal using your God-mind. We will address those practices in coming articles. "Quantum Healing," a book written by Dr. Deepak Chopra, explores the frontiers of mind/body medicine, and is very useful to understanding holistic health care. "Somehow human cells have evolved to a state of formidable intelligence," he writes. "At any one time, the number of activities being coordinated in our bodies is quite literally infinite." The professional practitioner should first practice meditation to contact God within as much as possible. Ideally, the meditative consciousness achieved should continue during the healing practice itself. The touching of psychic or chakra centers along the spinal column can help to stimulate the psychic energy chemistry of the body into motion so as to effect a healing on the psychic level. A simple affirmation is useful: "From the heart of the universe located in the spiritual heart of my body, the healing light that is the presence of God flows through my arms into my hands and through my hands as healing that part of the body that my hands touch. For relief and healing now received, I thank the healing presence of God."

Advice To Jealous Partners

Perma-Base Exceeds Standards For Asphalt Surfaces

The big boom in both commercial and residential new construction in the last ten years has taken its toll on blacktop surfaces in the St. Louis area. Parking lots and subdivision roads have been more prone to premature failure mostly due to undesirable soils, poor base construction, or improper design for intended load force. "We've just noticed that newer asphalt surfaces are falling apart much faster than they should. This region is comprised of a variety of soil conditions which should be accounted for when constructing a paved surface," said John Furr of Creve Coeur Paving.

The Perma-base system stops many of the area's bad soil characteristics from causing damage to blacktop pavements. It's success is attributed to keeping defects, moisture, and movement below the pavement, instead of allowing them to surface. The extra cost in constructing a Perma-Base structure is minimal when compared to the exhaustive efforts required to maintain or repair a surface that experiences problems associated with sub-base decline. Currently Creve Coeur Paving is one of few contractors using this style of base construction in the St. Louis region.

Area business owners and property managers can expect a much better return on their investment. The system possesses a higher tolerance for heavy loads and is more permeable so moisture can pass through it, instead of surfacing to the pavement. Because of this quality, new construction can take place after the base has been installed and compacted. Heavy loads such as concrete and refuse trucks will not disrupt the base. The project manager doesn't have to worry about soil-yielding causing delays at his worksite.

Expansive clay found in northern areas of St. Charles County and Lincoln County has been known to cause severe cracking even in 8" thick asphalt surfaces. The Perma-Base system resists reflective cracking from clay to help protect against surface cracking and shifting.

Property owners and managers are doing more to find ways to lower their overhead. Perma-Base brings them the desired solution. Less maintenance, larger load capacity, and greater longevity from asphalt surfaces depend on a solid sub-base. Perma-Base addresses all of these concerns.

What Happened To The Wise Men

Why You Shouldn't Buy Into Old Age Stereotypes

The woods are full of them. Old age stereotypes of every form and size dot the landscape of the mind. And, they have a negative affect on the way we age. Im in my 70s and have been subjected to them just like everybody else who is over 60. Fortunately, Ive been able to counter most of them. You can too!

What are we talking about? Here are some common examples. I often hear people say, Oops, Im having a senior moment which is another way of saying because I am aging I automatically forget things. But the person who is saying this is often under 50. However, the bait is out there and has been swallowed: when you get old you lose your memory, period. This, of course, is grossly untrue.

I also hear a different version of being a senior on the golf course. When someone hits a short drive that hits a concrete sidewalk, and they get a big rebound for an extra 20 or 30 yards, they are said to have gotten a senior bounce. Then look at all of the birthday and greeting cards with jokes about getting old, and not being able to do much anymore. And, we certainly cant forget how the younger set uses elderspeak on us. You know, that loud sweetie pie voice with the condescending tone.

What is the danger of all of this if you are a member of the older set and believe it? Many accept the aging stereotypes without realizing it, and consequently reduce their activities, become couch potatoes, narrow their outlook on life, expect less of themselves, and affect their health negatively. Here is what you can do to resist the reinforcement that aging is stark decline and loss of your wits.

1. The research is clear. What you think affects the aging process. Every thought you have has a physical effect at the cellular level. When you think negatively, focus on fear, or get angry look what it does to you physically. On the other hand, a positive view of aging can affect the quality of your life, including memory, and the way you age.

2. Therefore, stop thinking old. Ignore the stereotypes and focus on what you can give to your community and family. Love is the most important coping mechanism for dealing with life. Tell the people you love that you love them. Be a part of a nurturing community and you will find it incredibly difficult to grow old. Believe that you are not old until you stop having fun.

3. Any form of energy expenditure can be useful to maintaining health. And the research backs this up. A study of 302 people between the ages of 70-82 in the Journal of the American medical Association showed that any level of physical activity can prolong life. Keep moving on a regular basis is the key. Check with your Doctor first to see if he/she has any restrictions for you. Then crank the activity into your daily routines.

4. Use light weights every other day. As we get older we tend to lose muscle mass. You can counter this natural loss with light weight training. Start with 2-5 pound weights and 8 repetitions for the arms and 12 for the legs. Gradually increase to 20-25 for the arms and 40 for the legs.

5. Never stop learning. Anyone who stops learning is old, said Henry Ford, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. Education about diet, exercise, interpersonal relationships, as well as successful aging, can make a difference in your health status and the way your mind stays sharp. Your choices are critically important in the quality of life you maintain. You can choose peace of mind and nurture tranquility each day or allow yourself to drift into conflict over everything you dont agree with.

6. Remember that interpersonal relationships with extended family and other friends are crucial factors in happiness and longevity. Surround yourself with people you love, who are cheerful, and you will reduce the stress hormones swirling around inside. Keep in touch, and dont be shy about developing new friends regardless of your age. Social connections are as important as your diet.

7. Be your own best friend and dont pull yourself down because you make a mistake. As Buckminster Fuller said, The only reason I know so much is because of all the failures Ive had. Minimize the negative emotions (anger, worry, guilt, and depression) that you allow to live in your head, and you will strengthen your immune system and add to your longevity. There are many studies that support this approach and will show you how to pull it off.

So get in touch with and strengthen your beliefs in a power greater than yourself that will give you the wisdom to choose and the direction to turn your thoughts for the greater good. Learn what you can and cannot control and give yourself the benefit of the doubt.

In summary, how you age is essentially up to you. George Vaillant, Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard University and co-author of Successful Aging, put it this way An active and happy old age, dear Brutus, may not lie so much in our stars and genes as in ourselves. He should know, having conducted one of the largest studies on why some people age with fewer problems than others. So be proactive as you grow older, and let the stereotypes remain unfounded, as they have always been.

To Be Happier - Prioritize Your Values

Do you want to be happier? Take this first step on that path. What do you value? What does that value mean to you? Take a moment to ponder. In fact, take a few and really mull it over. Ask yourself when and why you chose that value. Uncover its source. Does it come from joyous times? Does it come from remorse?

How do you apply your values in your life every day? Have you ever stopped to think about the way you filter your world and interpret every event according to your values? You see, you unconsciously consent to make all your choices by listening to the voices in your head. Are there other values that might better serve you that you could listen to instead?

Until you make the time to pay attention to the values running you, you live your life on automatic. You tell yourself there is nothing you can do to change. I recommend you stop and think. Notice whether your values lead you to freedom or lead you to a shrink. Do you realize your values create judgments of every day events? As such they possibly prevent certain actions all the while maintaining your value satisfaction.

That's just how it is and how it will always be until you make the time to stop and see why you chose those particular values to run your life. Then you can decide if they move you forward or keep you in strife.

Make a choice today to maintain your life this way or make some changes in your values, in your priorities. Make sure your values speak for you and not for the majority. No one can tell you what's important to you. No one else can know what's best for you.

Invest the time in yourself to find what works best for you. Take the time to understand how and why you value what you value. Most importantly, always be true to you. It's all part of loving your Self first. It's not selfish. It's mandatory. In fact, discovering your values and prioritizing them is the first step to be happier.

Can You Be Happier Giving Away What is Precious to You?

The first time I heard that giving away what I want for myself is the way for me to get more of what I want, I thought that was a crazy mixed-up concept. How could I possibly get more of what I want, if I gave away what little I had to begin with? Could that really be the path to be happier?

I was thinking about money at the time. The person told me if I gave my money freely, it would be returned to me ten fold. Ten fold! So if I gave away $20, I would get back $200? Okay, count me in!

Ah, what that person never told me was the other part about giving. The most important part of giving is giving freely, from your heart. Give because you want to and not because you have an agenda, or any kind of expectation, including getting a return on your investment.

Ah ha. Now I get it. Giving is not the same as gifting. Hmm. Let me clarify what I am thinking. To me, when I give a gift, I give it with joy, with love. I usually make my gifts, so for me that item is filled with my personal time, energy, attention, and unfathomable love. I never gift anything to anyone unless I want to.

On the other hand, I often give because I feel a duty to make a difference for someone, or for some cause. I would like to say, even then, I give my time and energy because I want to, in my heart. But sometimes that is just not the case.

Often, after investing my time and energy into something or someone I originally thought I had no desire to support, I do a turn-around and find I feel grateful for having had that precious opportunity. Yes, opportunity often appears in surprising disguises.

Just a quick note, after giving my time to anyone or anything, I feel better as a person, and I also feel so grateful that I was the giver rather than the receiver in need. You can definitely be happier by giving away what you want most.

And know it truly will come back to you ten fold-just not in the way you think it will.

Quitting isn't the only option when things don't go as planned. Having a mentor can help you realise that. You might be on track but just need to have a helping hand to get over some hurdles. Maybe success is so close you can actually taste it but something that you are afraid of is stopping you from crossing the finish line.

What can life coaching really do for you? Do you know that keeping your goals in focus is often all you need to do to achieve them. Your life coach or mentor can help you by regularly going through your plan to determine if everything is on target. Your mentor can help you get back on track when things get derailed. Your coach can help you keep your outcome in mind despite the curveballs life throws at you.

At any point in life, a mentor can help someone attain success. Whether you're rich or poor and whether you're young or old, it always helps to have someone guiding you 4ADand cheering you on. Some of the most successful people in the world have been known to have counsellors and life coaches.

Overcoming Fear of Public Speaking

One of the theories is that its all down to evolution. For most of our history, we have lived in small nomadic groups, so if we make fools of ourselves, the chances of being able to reproduce are dramatically reduced. There is nowhere to run and hide if you are living in a tribe. Therefore, we have evolved the fear of public ridicule as a defense mechanism to protect our genes.

So, how can we overcome this fear?

First, we have to try to perceive the fear for what it is: an outdated survival instinct. Nowadays, we no longer live in small tribes, so the absolute worst thing that can happen if you embarrass yourself in front of others is that you feel a bit silly. This might not be much consolation but it does help put things in perspective. A more practical solution is to ensure that you are well prepared with a clear structure to your presentation.

You arrange the points you want to make in the order you want to say them on cards that fit easily into the palm of your hand. Make sure you number them in case they get mixed up. This will help you to maintain fluency. Fluent speakers appear confident and in control. And when you appear confident, soon enough, you will start to feel confident.

Presenting is a complex skill, just like gymnastics. Nobody would think of doing a gymnastic performance without practicing. Similarly, you do not want to go into a presentation without running through it a few times. You can do this with or without a test audience. If they are people you know and feel comfortable with, this will help boost your confidence.

Paul Daniels, International Presenter, Entertainer and Public Speaker, author of the ebook: Fear of Public Speaking that improves your skill for public speaking and helps in overcome that common fear.

How to Write Goals - The Best Way to Set Yourself Up For Success With Your Goals!

Goals are a very important part of your lives and those that stop dreaming and setting goals might as well be dead. This is what most of the experts believe and I completely agree. You need to know how to write goals and how to make sure you set yourself up for success. Here are some tips to help you with your goals.

First, let me say that if you are looking for the right program to keep you on track, then you should consider "The Magic Hundred". This is where I started and it will do amazing things for you. Okay onto a few helpful tips when it comes to writing goals.

When you write goals you need to start with a complete brainstorm session. You have to just let your mind wander and no matter how crazy it seems right now you should write down everything that comes to mind. You never know where you will go in life and you can achieve more than you probably think you can.

Next, you need to take your list and break it down into categories. These should be short term, mid term, and long term goals. You can also include goals to achieve in the next month, 90 days, 6 months, and one year. This will help you get organized and work towards all of your goals in an easier way.

Last, you need to make sure you are giving yourself a chance to succeed by learning exactly how to write goals. This is important because if you try to pile too much on at once you will not achieve much, but if you have a good balance you will be in pretty good shape to achieve most of your goals.

Go Here Now to Discover how to set your goals and get to where you want to go with The Magic Hundred!

Goals As Guideposts - Not Tombstones

One of the first questions we're asked as children is, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" In the United States this question literally begins our life-long process of goal setting, especially in our careers. We are encouraged in our culture to set goals, goals and more goals. We are taught how to set them, what they should be, and that when we hit them, we are a success. By the time we choose a college, many of us are on the hard and fast road of judging ourselves to be failures simply by missing the bull's-eye. We lay out our life paths by eighteen and then judge ourselves forever by that innocent childhood question, "What do you want to be?"

But what happens to us when we realize we answered the question the way we thought we were expected to, instead of what brought us joy at that moment? What happens when our goals are for things and titles instead of for life satisfaction and happiness? Perhaps the path should be its own success. The lessons we learn at thirty, forty and even fifty should reorient our decisions. Those lessons should change our course. This comes at a high price, however, in a society that says the goal IS the reward.

Often, we don't even enjoy the journey because we're busy looking for the brass ring.

* I'll be happy once I finish grad school.

* I'll be happy after I'm married.

* Having children will make me happy.

* Once I get out of this job, then I'll be happy.

What if we decided that happiness was really the goal? No matter what our culture tells us, we can be empowered to set goals for now, instead of forever. While it might seem unconventional, or even risky, the power to choose deeply personal objectives while walking our life path is a ticket to freedom. Setting goals like inner peace, free time, day-to-day joy - these are personally determined, and thus, attainable and even adjustable.

No matter what age you are or what your circumstances, stop right now and ask yourself: What do I want? (Remember, money is a cheater's answer - what would you want from the money?) Quite simply, what would make you happy? Don't edit yourself - there's no right or wrong.

Your answers might surprise you. If you loved going to college, but hated the career you ended up in, the answer might not be a new job - but to go back to college! You got the six-figure, C-level career, but deeply wish for more time with your family. Guess what? You get to pick again. You realize a week before the wedding that you fell in love with the wrong person. Trust that. Be courageous. This is your life. It is not the dress rehearsal. You are not the star in someone else's dream -- not your parent, not your spouse, nobody.

The goals we set are powerful, but should be guideposts. They are organizing principles and benchmarks to focus our energy. They should not be strangleholds, held so tightly that we kill ourselves going after the wrong thing. The process of being human means asking and re-asking the important questions. It means redirecting. It means changing our minds. These shifts in course are the right use of willpower.

Sometimes the most empowering act in our lives is simply being able to embrace that a goal we set previously - and even attained - is no longer the right goal to continue our life's path of happiness.

Spreading the Good Word of God Gently

The other day I was walking through the park when I saw a man, an extremely large man reading the Bible. I was minding my own business like I normally do in full observation mode, just simply enjoying life. When what I thought was a tree reading the Bible, moved and scared the crap out of me. This man was about 6'9" and look like he played professional football but when he spoke it was nonthreatening and very gentle.

Have you read the Bible he said. I thought to myself, you have got to be kidding me. Couldn't this person have been smaller and what's he going to do when I tell him that I have but no longer follow Christianity. I liked my face and the rest of my body, should I lie to this man to save my own life or would he be understanding about my beliefs.

I threw the dice out on the table and told him that I have read the Bible and do not believe it is the word of God, the Creator of the universe. I explained to him that, there is a lot of useful information and some wonderful stories in the Bible but that it could not completely be proven as factual information. I continued to explain to him that there was a lot of information in the Bible that contradicted itself and some that simply wasn't true.

He sat back down on the park bench and asked me to join him. I couldn't resist as I always have enjoyed talking about religion and ready to learn something about this man and why he is a Christian. He started to tell me about some recent events that have happened in his life, some bad, some worse and of course some that he didn't want to talk about. However, he did mention a trip to church a few Sundays ago that changed his life.

I was happy for him that he had found peace but explained to him that he is extremely vulnerable to anything right now that can make a little sense out of his life. Be careful I told him, because you could get caught up in something that feels and sounds good, only to find out later in life, that you have questions about Christianity that can't be answered.

I had a very pleasant conversation with this person and I believe he appreciated a few of the points I made. When people are down and out and their lives seem to be really messed up, they're extremely vulnerable to others religious beliefs, whether they're right or wrong.

Don't force your religious beliefs onto others, be kind and courteous to those who are on the edge and having difficulties in life. Explaining to them about your religion and how it has benefited you is wonderful but it might not be as beneficial to someone else. The next time you plan on converting someone who is down in the dumps, make sure that you understand your own religion before you pass false beliefs onto others.

It's like a cancer spreading through the body, most of the cancer cells don't know what they are doing or how much damage is going to be done until it's too late.

Voice Of Knowledge

Is the Bible Accurate

I'm going to start with the first book of the holy Bible, Genesis chapter 1 verse one through five. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

And God said," let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

If the Bible is historically accurate, did God actually create earth. I have been battling over this, my whole life. It's very easy for someone to accept and believe in any religion, government, other people or whatever they truly desire to make real. I see it every day of my life, open your eyes and you will see it to.

It's hard to imagine that a superior entity like God created everything that we touch and see. The moon itself is pretty big and the creation of the sun would prove to be a little more difficult, but if you're God and your all knowing and all powerful, he or she or it, must be one incredible being.

This is only the first couple of paragraphs in the Bible and there is no, I repeat no, historical accuracy to this event. It seems like God or man, whoever wrote the Bible, should have started the Bible with something a little more believable for people that live in the 21st century. It's not hard to imagine someone 2000 years ago, believing in something like this.

2000 years ago the Romans were worshiping their own gods, we might find this ridiculous today but back then the Romans would punish you if you didn't worship their gods. We are not too far from that today. If we don't stop organized religion and their influence on humanity, we're going to have serious problems in the future.

The biggest problem I foresee is common sense. If the Bible has 500 historical accurate facts that can be proven without a doubt by historians, scholars and other intelligent people, but has one thing that can't be explained, how do we handle this. How do we handle the fact that the Bible states God created light? If this is false, what else is false in the Bible.

Greg Vanden Berge is a published author, internet marketing expert, motivational inspiration to millions of people all over the world and is sharing some of his wisdom with experts in the fields of writing, marketing, and personal development. Have you ever really ask yourself Who is, Jesus of Nazareth?

Greg is currently working on a Personal Power Ideas. If you're ever wondering why some people can achieve success, while others seem to struggle aimlessly, what would it hurt, to take a couple of minutes of your time, if you could actually find the truth.

Whose God is The Best

If you're part of a religious organization, and were asked this question, "Whose God Is Better" meaning of course, is your God better and stronger or smarter and better looking than the religious competition. Is this something that you believe or were taught while you were young? Obviously you wouldn't think that the Hindu god Brahma is better than Yahweh or Jesus, if you're a Christian. It just wouldn't make any sense to belong to a religion that was weaker than the competition.

It seems like most religions around the world have gods or even one almighty God that is the biggest and baddest god in the neighborhood, maybe even the entire universe.

If we look at the numbers, the Christian God Jesus of Nazareth is the strongest by far. A survey that was done in 2005, showed Christians 2.1 billion strong and growing. With numbers like this, their God must be doing something right. Do you think these numbers are large because of their financial influences in poor countries? Something to think about, how did Christianity become such a large religious institution. They've got plenty of money and pay relatively little taxes. Remember the golden rule, the person with the most gold makes all the rules.

Second on our religious scale are the Muslims, the Islamic religion has over 1.1 billion followers and that puts it at almost half the size of Christianity, but more than doubled the size of the third largest religion by the numbers.

The third largest religion in the world is Hinduism and most of India which is second only to China as the most populated countries in the world are Hindus. Hinduism ranks around 800 million followers.

I'll stop right there. I wanted to give you an idea of religion by the numbers, realistically the Christians and the Muslims believe in the same God but the Muslims recognize Jesus as a prophet and the Christians don't recognize Mohammad at all and Mohammad is the number one prophet for the Islamic religion. But if we put the two of them together, it would be the largest religion by far with almost no competition economically or with military strength.

So to answer our question," Whose God Is Actually Better", I would have to say the Christian God is the most popular and powerful God and the universe. The only problem is, there's no actual proof that Jesus, Mohammed, Yahweh, Krishna or any other supreme being is real. People follow these religions and base almost everything on faith with very little facts that can actually be proven.

I'm not talking about small facts, I'm talking about big ones like, how the world was created, you can choose to believe, anything that you want but until we have some facts or at least something that sounds pretty good, you should probably stop thinking, that your religion is the only way and your God the best. Show some compassion for other religions around the world, their beliefs are no better or weaker than yours.

Getting Your Mojo Back

Motivation can be defined as momentum that stimulates action. It comes from within you. Nobody can "make" you be motivated. It's up to you. So, how do you keep your motivation on a daily basis, and especially during these economically hard times?

First, let's go there and talk about where LACK of motivation comes from and how it manifests itself into your life. Lack of motivation is usually caused by fear and lack of self-confidence. I've seen this so many times when working with under-producing sales professionals. Maybe you've been on a roll. Sales have been great. You've been the "golden players" on the sales team. Maybe you're struggling just to get out of the gate.

All of a sudden somebody or many people say "no." The economic climate changes. You lose a client or maybe more. Prospects dry up. Fear begins to set in about job performance, money, etc. If you are being highly scrutinized because of falling sales, fear and self-confidence set in and begin to spin out of control.

Fear and lack of self-confidence will paralyze you from doing what you need to do to move forward. Where there is fear and lack of self-confidence, there cannot possibly be motivation.

Ok. Enough of that! We all know what LACK of motivation can do. But when you're down there, how to get up again? How do you keep your self-motivated day after day in a tough marketplace full of competition and rejection?

Let me give you 4 steps to recover your motivation, get out of the rut and get your "Mojo" back!

1. Make A List: When you've fallen into a slump you might feel as though you're at the bottom looking up ad you can't dig yourself out. Your thoughts are spinning about all the things you should do, and need to do. It's impossible to figure out what to do and how to do it when your head is spinning! Make a list. Sit down someplace quiet, breathe and write down everything that is spinning around up there. After you've made the list you can then start to prioritize. If sales are down and you need to make 10 sales, the goal is to make sale. Notice I said "a sale" not 10, not 2, not 6. ONE. Whatever your goal is, chunk it out into smaller, more reasonable pieces that will give you success quickly. When you succeed at the first goal that success will spur you on to the next.

2. Post Your Goal: Make your first goal real by putting in front of you. Also, put a positive spin on your goal. Don't just write, "One Sale" or "I need to make one sale." Instead write something like, "I can make one sale." Then post ion your bathroom mirror, on your refrigerator, in your car, in your home office, etc etc. Make this goal your mantra.

3. Don't Quit! Make a list of 4 or 5 ways you can get to your goal. Who do you need to see? What referral do you need? Who in your network can you call on for help? Keep putting one foot ahead of the other, one step at a time. This is the most important step to get where you want to be.

4. Squash Negative Thoughts:. For every negative thought that pops into your head and runs around in there, identify where that thought comes from. For instance, if you are thinking, "I'm a loser."

Who said that to you? Why to you feel that way? When you've identified where the negative thought comes from, select an opposing thought to replace it. Instead of, "I'll never make my sales goal" think I will make my sales goal because sales is a numbers game I know I can win!

Remember that sales is a numbers game. By setting goals and being consistent your Mojo will return and not only will you make your sales goals, you'll beat them! You are a winner. Act as if you are!

3 Powerful Strategic Goal Setting Techniques That Never Fail

Do you want to achieve what you want in your life? Do you want to be successful? If you are serious in getting what you want, you must leverage on this powerful technique, goal setting. Many people underestimate the power of setting a goal. When you written down what you want in your life, it will help you to stay focused in what you do and it will give you reasons to keep going on. That is why strategic goal setting is so important.

In fact, most people fail because they are not serious and committed toward their goals. If you treat your goal as a hobby, you will never achieve them. You must put in 100% commitment and follow through these 3 powerful strategic goal setting techniques in order to get what you want in your life...

1. You must have a vision. Everything starts from an idea. You don't have to be creative; ideas will flow through your mind everyday. Have you ever thought of wanted to become a millionaire? What about loss weight and live at your ideal weight? What about having vacation in your ideal island? These thoughts are the ideas that serve as the vision in your mind. As long as you focus in these thoughts and put in commitment into them, you will make them come true.

2. The process of strategic goal setting is not difficult. Remember, your goal must be as specific as possible, has deadline and must be a stretched goal. For example, if you are earning $1,000 a month and you set your aim to earn $1,100 a month; this will be an incremental target. A stretch goal is an objective that is higher than your current level. Earning $3,000 a month will be a stretch goal. It will help you to think out of the box and adopt creative thinking to make it come true.

3. The final step in strategic goal setting is that you must develop a plan on how you can achieve it. You must create an action plan of what you have to do each and everyday in order to make your goal come true. Take consistent action everyday and you will move closer toward what you want in your life. Family Time - Reduce Stress and Enjoy Your Time With Family

Family time can be defined in many ways, depending on your lifestyle, and who or what you consider as family. Most people define family as spouse and/or children. But for some it could be the cherished pets. And still for others their closest friends.

We are generally social 'animals' with a 'herd-tribe' mentality. We need the 'herd' to survive. This togetherness is very important and gives us a sense of completeness and security. When we are unable to prioritize our time, energy, or thoughts towards these important entity's, we get stressed, worried and anxious.

Of course the first priority on your list is for yourself, yes, you. Your health and wellbeing must be maintained, before you can give to others. Remember you ' must have your cup of energy filled before you can give to others'. When you are wasted, tired, depressed and otherwise stressed out, you are a hindrance rather then a help to your family.

You can not consider yourself selfish, if you think of how your attitude and drama will effect them. By setting the mood or the environment of a given day, event, or a phone call you reduce the chances of stress developing in there lives as well as yours.

With some calm inner retrospection you can prioritize your family time to benefit everyone. A win-win is always more fun and more abundant.

Making the effort to learn all the facts before engaging a conversation with a family member, or planning an activity in advance will cut the edges off stressed issues. You will find you have much more control of your time and energy with some planning and actions.

Our life styles need not be filled with excuse laden busywork. Or activates that keep a child busy, when a caring parents attention is all that is needed.

There are so many ways you can involve yourself and your family in simple activities and events. For instance watch a movie together, then discuss it afterwards, yes, you will have to pick a movie that has some value. You will find that this investment in time and effort will pay off in abundant feelings of togetherness and connection.

It is known fact that action is the greatest deterrent to stress, worry and fears. By taking action and control of the situation you will win back time, energy and abundant love of members of your family. Stress will not get a foot hold in their lives and in yours.

The Primitive Middle Age Death Cults Still Exist

Where did the idea of international terrorists and suicide bombers come from? Isn't that an incredible waste of human life in the sound and fury of mankind? It is interesting that someone would not value innocent human life or even their own to that degree.

These primitive Middle Age death cults need to be curtailed and those people who are involved in the Islamic radical fundamentalism need to be reeducated and those who recruit and promote suicide bombing and the joining of international terrorist organizations need to be stopped.

If those who promote such things do so in the name of religion and belief that their religion is protected true freedoms of religion then we need to withdraw all those freedoms in the name of the common good. It is not okay to have a religion, which preaches hate, violence or suicide acts of international terrorism.

Religious freedom has obviously been abused to the point that such freedoms can no longer be honored. It is time for mankind to grow up and to wake up and perhaps ditch some of these primitive middle age religious cults and their death squads.

It is unacceptable in the present period and if we are to maintain a forward progression of this species we must stop this here and now. Please consider all this in 2006.

What Is Santeria?

In order to understand Santeria I have defined a few of the terms that are extremely important if you wish to learn and or fully comprehend this Afrocuban culture.

By definition Santeria is A combination of religious traditions or beliefs that combines a similar African traditional religion. Santeria originated in the country of Cuba and Brazil. This religion is a combination of the traditional Yoruba faith and the worship of catholic saints.

Yoruba's are members of a West African Community based in the region of southwest Nigeria whoa are active members of the practice of Santeria. The Yoruba people pray and service the Orisha: An Orisha or as others may call it Orisa/Orixa is spiritual being or presence that is interpreted as one of the manifestations of GOD (Olofi) within the Santeria Religion or faith.

In order to determine who will be your crowned Orisha if this is the path that you choose to take, one needs to get their Guerreros or Elekes (collares) there are two sets of warriors (one form the babalaos) and the other from santeros meaning that the elegua that you get from the babalao is exu and the santero is elegua. The marking of the head can be done when you receive your mano de orunla, it is advised that the person who is doing such should already have Godparents. I have heard some people go and receive orunla with out having elekes , which would mean that they don't have any godparent representation, normally this is not very recommended.

For information and to learn more about this African based culture please visit MySanteria.com a Social network that will allow you to meet many Santeros from around the world that will introduce you and answer all of your questions.

A Brief Lesson In Child Motivation For Gymnastics Parents

Today I'm going to give you a few quick and easy tips for
child motivation - I didn't make these up, they are based
on psychological theory.

When we think of motivation we think of an audience of
adults chanting "I can do it" at a Tony Robbins seminar,
but motivation is just as important for children.

As a gymnastics parent, you probably already realize how
important motivation for children is.

Teaching your children about motivation and goals at an
early age will help them to become fulfilled and successful
adults.

But how? Let's discuss a few ideas right now.

To start with, introduce your kids to the concept of
setting goals by having a discussion about them.

I don't mean lecture your kids, but have a back-and-forth
discussion about what they would like to achieve - don't be
too serious, they get plenty of that at school.

Keep it simple, fun and light, and remember to let your
kids have their say, listen to their ideas about achieving
goals and help to develop them.

Next thing you can do is set up a goal system --> using the
goals you created during your discussion, make up a chart
of attainable but challenging goals and place it somewhere
every one can see it.

Ideas for goals can be learning a new gymnastics skill
within a certain time-frame, ranking in the top 10 gymnasts
at the next meet or achieve a certain grade level in the
next school report card.

It's also a good idea to set rewards for each goal -
include that on the goal sheet too.

When a goal is achieved, give your child their reward and
put a big check-mark, smiley face or stamp on the goal
chart and gather every one in the household around to
witness the momentuos occassion and give encouragement.

When a goal isn't achieved, let your child know you can see

they're working hard but they need to try harder - also
make sure the goals aren't too tough!

Finally, set goals for yourself and follow them to
completion.

You can't expect your child to achieve if you have no
discipline or self-control yourself.

A great way to achieve goals together is to take on a
project at home. It can be painting the garage, planting a
new garden or even a craft project.

The idea is to show your child that great things are
achieved from consistent work over a long period - too many
kids nowadays give up if something can't be achieved during
the commercial break!!

Is Your Religion an Illusion? Who is God?

Most people that I run into on a regular basis while out and about on my journey through life, seem to believe in something. Most of them when asked, fear death and are often looking forward to going to a better place, like heaven when they die. Some of them will start talking about all the good things they've done in their lifetime, while others live in a very humble world.

If you're a strong believer and are told not to read or listen to anything outside of your religious text. This probably comes from fear and will keep you living in your religious illusion of faithfulness. Jesus once said, Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

I'm sure that religious scholars can interpret this in a hundred ways and some of them will even make sense to people like me but the words are simple and straightforward. Seek and you will find is pretty simple to understand. If I'm looking for the answers while seeking the truth, I should be able to find it.

Here's where the problem comes in, why don't more people seek the truth. If you believe that seeking the truth is reading your religious text on a daily basis, read them with an open mind and soon you will find text that some of it is outdated, doesn't make sense, and some of it even contradicts itself. There is some wonderful information in these texts also. I've read some of the Holy Bible and love Proverbs and the Story of Job.

Just because I liked the stories and other parts of the Holy Bible, does it make me a believer in Jesus or the God of the Holy Bible. I can no longer agree with my past beliefs, how I was raised or have the same beliefs as the majority of people in my community. I am still seeking the truth but no longer falling into the trap and believe most religions create an illusion of a better life, but can't seem to deliver the goods, especially here on earth. The promise of something better entices some people to live a godly life but at what expense, sometimes.

There are plenty of religious followers who will tell you that they're happy and they love following their religion. Some of these people are liars, others are honest but most of them aren't very educated about their own religions or others throughout the world. Don't get caught up in the religious trap, that your religion is right and others are wrong. This could become more frustrating once you truly start to seek the truth.

Powerful Beliefs In The Bible

Are You Caught Up In A Life Of Guilt

Guilt is one of the largest causes of stress in your life. Stop reading this article for a second and think about the people in your lives that often make you feel guilty.

Now did you really stop reading the article and think about the people in your life who make you feel guilty? Okay well if you did this get back to the guilty feelings so many of us have. Guilt goes all the way back to your childhood, your parents, teachers, friends and relatives have gotten to be pretty good at it over the years, often learning from the same group of people when they were children.

Guilt is definitely a big part of our society and can be found almost everywhere you turn. Have you ever turned the television on to notice a commercial about weight loss. A large majority of Americans are overweight and are targets for a guilt creating society.

I was reading a book on writing magazine articles, when they mentioned a fact that I never thought of, most women's magazines run articles on dieting in every issue. Guilt sells magazines.

Do you think weight loss, dieting or nutritional eating habits, sell magazines? If your answer is no, you should check the financial statements of these companies. They know what sells magazines and guilt or fear is one of their best friends. If you answered yes to the question, you won't have to suffer from the guilt of not knowing the answer.

Guilt seems to work on our subconscious mind in negative ways, often producing harmful thoughts that create stressful feelings in our lives. The longer these negative thoughts are held as truths, the harder it's going to be on our self esteem.

If you find yourself around people that make you feel guilty for something you do or don't do on a regular basis, I would suggest finding new people to hang around with. Gathering negative information from people you consider your friends can only create more damage to your conscience.

If you truly and sincerely do not like something about yourself, tell your friends in a nice way, that you would rather talk about your problems in a negative way. If they have constructive and helpful comments, you would love to hear them. Guilt causes stress and stress can lead to death. If you don't believe that, do some research on stress related illnesses.

If The Greeks Were Wrong

Read and Change Your Life

Most people read a book and if it's good, they might recommend it to someone else, but if the book is great, you can guarantee they will recommend it to everyone who is interested or who they think might be interested in the book. In the field of personal development, one book comes to mind, it's called, "You Can Have It All" by Arnold Patent.

I found the book in one of our antique thrift stores and paid less than $10 for it, I really didn't think much of it and never heard of Arnold Patent before. We've all heard of Anthony Robbins, Susie Orman, Wayne Dyer, but I never heard of Arnold Patent. I skimmed through the book and it looked like a short read. I read the book in about six hours and plan to reread the book, as soon as I get it back for my daughter. The book has short chapters, most of them less than five pages.

Looking at the short chapters, you could get the impression, that there isn't very much information in each chapter, how could there be with less than five pages and some chapters less than three pages. This was very deceiving to me, because each paragraph, was like a chapter and each chapter was like a small book.

The book is full of tools and advice and combines personal development with spirituality. He has chapters on meditation, energy, enjoying what you love to do for the rest of your life, cause and effect, abundance, attachment, pain and suffering, harmony, karma the past and forgiveness.

I can't tell you what a pleasure it was to read this book and if you're looking for some basics on quite a few motivational, spiritual and laws of attraction topics, this book has almost everything you need to get you interested in changing your life. You could actually read one chapter a day and think about it for the rest of the week, there's that much information in each chapter.

I was reading one of his recommendations and it was from Oprah Winfrey, she said, "It was one of the most important books that I had ever read." That's coming from one of the most successful people in the entertainment business. I stumbled across this book and might not have ever found it, but I'm telling you about it and highly recommend it.

Christianity Saved Me From Something

I would like you to think about something for a minute, have you ever met somebody who has been saved in a Christian church. There's a good chance you know quite a few people if you live in the United States of America. Over the years I've heard people tell me, "I've Been Saved," it can be a new beginning for some or lead to a life of frustration and pain for others.

If you don't know what being saved is, or have never heard of it, let me give you a brief description of a saved Christian. This would be someone who accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior, it's not that difficult and you really don't have to go to church, this ritual can be performed anywhere.

If you're reading this article and would like to be saved, here's how you do it. Get up out of your chair, run outside the building you're in and start running up and down the streets yelling, I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, 1111 times. Be careful because if you missed this by one number, in either direction, you have to start all over again.

Okay I'm just kidding about the running out of the house, and yelling at the top of your lungs, oh yeah and the 1111 times. Anyway the truth about being saved according to the Christian church, is quite simply saying the words to your self or out loud, "I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior."

That's it, it's really quite simple and your saved.

The problem becomes a little bit later in your life and this could be within a few days or even a few hours, if most people don't see a drastic change in their life, they quit their newly founded Christian religion and go back to their old ways.

I hope you have a pretty good understanding about being saved in the Christian religion and you can do it anytime of the day, at any period of your life. If you're going to die and you been a liar, committed adultery, murdered or raped another person, lived a life of crime, ruined the lives of others or even been part of another religion you're whole life, simply state the words "I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior," and you're instantly a Christian. That's a pretty good deal for anyone.

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you, this simple statement gives you a one way ticket to heaven and spend eternity in one of the grandest most beautiful places you could ever possibly imagine, even though you might not have been, what most people would consider a decent person. Now this is looking pretty good isn't it.

Being saved can provide you with a lot of benefits if you're a believer but I forgot to tell you one very important thing about this whole process. There is no hard evidence and most Christians will tell you that they base their whole life on faith and a book written by a man but inspired by, one unbelievable, supernatural and incredible entity.

I've seen a lot of people live their lives tormented from the decisions they've made throughout their lives. If you choose to believe in Christianity, I would suggest you spend some of your time reading the Bible but most of your time gathering information about other religions also. Don't take someone else's word, that this is the way to eternal salvation. I beg you to at least, find out where the Bible really came from, always question your religion.

Education has freed me, to pursue other ideas and release me from the bondage and fear of organized religion.
